Chris Quick co-founded Palatine Pack Timing, Palatine Pack TFCC, and Palatine Pack Event Management in 2021. The timing company provides reliable and affordable event timing for track and field, cross country, and road race events. Even more, the company seeks to improve the experience of fans and athletes in all three disciplines. He believes a timing company can deliver accurate times while also building fun and communal events for participants of all ages.
Chris is a teacher and long-time cross country and track and field coach at Palatine High School. During his tenure, the boys cross country team qualified to the Class 2A/3A state finals 12 times, including 5 podium finishes. The 2011 boys team won the IHSA Class 3A state championship and placed 5th in the Nike National Meet. During his tenure, Palatine athletes earned 17 different All-State honors, including an individual state championship for Steve Finley (2005).
In track and field, Chris coached 50 Class 2A/3A Illinois state meet qualifiers in the distance events, including state champions Mat Smoody (2007, 2008) and Alec Bollman (2010). More than 50 of his former athletes have gone on to compete at all levels of the NCAA system.
More recently, he resigned from coaching at Palatine High School to spend more time with his family and pursue other interests. In 2016, Chris inaugurated the Distance Night in Palatine track meet. He also serves as meet manager of the prestigious Palatine Invite “Meet of Champions” during cross country season.
Beyond coaching and event management, Chris is a writer and teacher. He published his cross country memoir One Way Uphill Only on the Breakaway Books imprint in 2012. He continues to teach English at Palatine High School and lives in Palatine with his wife Meredith and his three kids - Madeline, Christopher, and J.J.
