Billy Matzek is a throws coach at Prospect High School and a future science teacher at Schaumburg High School where he will coach football and track. He recently graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he competed as a Division 1 thrower in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw.

Billy started has throwing career at Prospect High School where he was a three-time state medalist for Coach Tim Beishir. During his senior season, he finished All-State in both shot put (7th - 56’ 3.5”) and discus (6th - 173’ 1”). As a junior he finished and All-State 8th in the shot put with a 57’ 6” effort.

During his college career, Billy traveled the country with the University of Illinois. During his time there, he threw the hammer 54.73m (179’ 6”), weight throw 18.00m (59’ 0”), discus 47.49m (155’ 9”), and the shot put 17.12m (56’ 2”). Additionally, he earned several top 3 finishes throughout his college career and along with multiple Academic All Big Ten Honors.
